Gojū-no-tō
Gojū-no-tō, five story pagoda, is about 51 m. high, the second highest tower next to the 5-story pagoda in Toji Temple, Kyoto. It was initially built in 730 A.D. and, after being burned down many times, the current tower is the sixth reconstruction. It is along side of Kōfuku-ji, a Buddhist temple, that was established in 669 by Kagami-no-Ōkimi, in present day Kyoto. It was moved in 672 and finally in 710, which is its current location on the east side of the newly constructed capital, Heijō-kyū, today's Nara.
