Walk Ueno Park

A bit of a gloomy day I head out to Ueno Park, which houses the Ueno Zoo, some major museums and shrines. There is a Tōshō-gū shrine located in the park, but when I got there it was under maintenance so most of it was covered by a faux background, from a distance it was hard to tell. Located in the southern part of Ueno Park, is the Shinobazu Pond which is a beautiful walk.

Ueno Park was established through an imperial land grant to the city of Tokyo in 1924. The official name of the park is Ueno Onshi Kōen, when translated it means "Ueno Imperial Gift Park".

Tōshō-gū shrine, is any Shinto shrine and one of the few physical links that Tokyo has to its Edo period.

Shinobazu pond is a historically prominent Shitamachi feature that has appeared in history and works of art.

Ameyoko is a crowded market street that runs along the Yamanote line between Okachimachi and Ueno station, it used to be a place where you buy things from the black market.
